On the second day of his official visit to the USA Bulgaria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Daniel Mitov met with the Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs at the US Department of State Amos Hochstein and with the State Department’s Coordinator for Sanctions Policy Daniel Fried, the press center of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs. Minister Mitov and Amos Hochstein discussed topics related to the fulfillment of energy projects which are of high priority for Bulgaria as well as for the whole region. Daniel Mitov and Amost Hochstein accentuated on the construction of the gas interconnection between Bulgaria and Greece, as well as on the construction of a liquefied natural gas terminal near the Greek town of Alexandroupolis. Mitov and Hochstein agreed that the fulfillment of those projects would contribute to the diversification of the energy resources and guarantee competitive market prices. Minister Mitov and the State Department’s Coordinator for Sanctions Policy Daniel Fried discussed topics related to the cooperation between the EU and the USA in the sanctions policy field. Daniel Mitov and Daniel Fried also discussed the situation in Ukraine, the fulfillment of the Minsk Agreement, the conflicts in the Middle East, migration topics, terrorism issues, as well as the threats stemming from the altered security environment in Europe.
