Bulgaria among prime Russia targets for killing sanctions: Reuters

Photo: picture library

Bulgaria is among the seven EU countries whose authorities have come under increasing pressure to soften anti-Russia sanctions, Reuters reports referring to European diplomats based in Moscow who spoke on conditions of anonymity. The EU has lifted sanctions in one of the sectors of economy. The decision of European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker to visit Russia during the economic forum in St. Petersburg had been driven (according to the European diplomats) by concerns that EU was losing unity with regard to anti-Russia sanctions because of the negative impact of Russia sanctions on Europe’s farmers. Quoted diplomats said that some of the sanctions could be lifted in January 2017.
