The economic and political relations and integration between Bulgaria and Greece must deepen against the backdrop of the events in the Middle East, Bulgaria’s Minister of Economy Bozhidar Loukarsky said at a meeting with Greece’s Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism Giorgos Stathakis held within the frameworks of the Bulgaria-Greece intergovernmental sitting in Sofia. Along with the traditional interest shown by Greek companies towards Bulgaria, an increased interest of Bulgarian companies towards Greece has been registered recently, Minister Stathakis pointed out. Giorgos Stathakis said that Bulgaria and Greece have been discussing the improvement of the road infrastructure between South Bulgaria and North Greece, in order to boost bilateral relations in economy and tourism. Greece is Bulgaria’s 5th biggest importer and 6th biggest exporter. Bulgaria’s exports to Greece amount to 6.3% of the total export volume. The import from Greece amounts to 4.6% of Bulgaria’s total import.
