Customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint seized a record high amount of contraband golden jewelry estimated at EUR 366,000. The gold was seized at the Bulgaria-Turkey border during an inspection of a mini-bus with Ukrainian registration. The driver of the minс-bus and three other passengers were carrying a jewelry that weighted nearly 12 kilograms. The customs officers found 1,477 golden necklaces, 1246 ear-rings, 980 medallions, 657 rings and 381 bracelets. The fourteen karat gold was seized and the authorities initiated pre-trial proceedings against the infringers.
