Cabinet permits oil and gas research in Black Sea

The government has allowed the stay of the Oceanic Endeavour research vessel in Bulgaria’s Black Sea exclusive economic zone. The ship will carry out 3D seismic surveys while looking for oil and natural gas across an area of 6,893 km2 in the southern segment of this country’s territorial waters. The decision seizes the period 20 September 2016 – the end of the research, but not later than 19 February 2017. The surveys will be executed in compliance with the technology and volume, envisaged in the contract for oil and natural gas exploration, signed by the ministry of energy and Shell Exploration & Production Company, Inc.
