The Standart newspaper focuses on the new session of the UN General Assembly opening in New York. Hours before the opening there are police at every corner, the newspaper writes, because of the explosions on Saturday night and other incidents in USA.

Under the headline “We are 60 percent richer over 10 years”, the same newspaper quotes National Statistical Institute data showing that the incomes of Bulgarians are going up faster than prices and are now 60 percent higher than ten years ago. As a result, the purchasing power of the population over the 2005- 2015 period grew for practically all commodities. However, the incomes of households remained insufficient for maintaining the 1989 level of consumption.

Duma newspaper writes that Deputy Interior Minister Philip Gounev is accusing Serbia of lying about illegal migration. The newspaper quotes an interview given by Philip Gounev for the Bulgarian National Radio in which he stated that Belgrade has been trying to score political points by making use of false data concerning illegal migrants coming from Bulgaria.

The Central Election Commission (SIC) website crashed over the weekend, making it inaccessible for e-registration from abroad in the course of two days, blocking the applications for opening polling stations abroad, writes Sega newspaper. The Central Election Commission were alerted to the problem by the newspaper.

Again Sega focuses on the package of new tax laws proposed by Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov. The proposal makes a U-turn regarding excise duty on cigarettes, no gambling winnings tax is envisaged, refuse tax remains unaltered, the newspaper writes.

Zemya newspaper comments in an analysis that Bulgaria will only pay Russia its dues for the aborted Belene NPP after approval by parliament. The newspaper quotes Prime Minister Boyko Borissov as saying that after paying around 400 million euro, the Bulgarian side will invite the Russian side to negotiations for finding a way to turn this huge loss to the budget from a liability into an asset.

An investigation by Monitor newspaper has revealed that Bulgarians make the sign of the cross in front of icons made in China. The investigation has shown that an icon sold wholesale online costs 1.60 Leva is then sold at a double or triple the price. The same is true of some traditional Bulgarian souvenirs.
