All Bulgarian printed media accentuate on Monday on Premier Borissov’s decision to nominate National Assembly Speaker Tsetska Tsacheva for President. Trud and Sega newspapers quote Boyko Borissov that “it was high time the Bulgarians elected a mother of the nation who would take care of the people of Bulgaria”. Duma daily contends that Tsetska Tsacheva’s nomination was announced at a sham political activity. 24 Chassa quotes the leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party Kornelia Ninova who said the following: ”The Bulgarian Socialist Party tried to find out why Borissov and GERB came out with such a weak candidature and we couldn’t find a reasonable answer apart from the one that they could be preparing a giant manipulation of the vote.” Standard daily accentuates on Tsetska Tsacheva’s message to the people that she would not burn bridges, but she would rather build such. Tsatcheva also said that she had the ambition to attract the votes of people outside GERB and of ones who did not vote for GERB at previous elections. I will work towards unity, stability and security of our country and will try to boost its role as a factor of stability in the region, Trud daily quotes National Assembly President Tsacheva.

Standard daily publishes an interview with Bulgaria’s new nomine for UN Secretary General Kristalina Georgieva. I will not be against the other nominees in that competition. I joined the competition, in order to demonstrate my skills, Kristalina Georgieva says, adding that she was encouraged to run for the UN top job by Bulgaria’s cabinet, as well as by some other countries from the Southeast Europe. The people should understand how difficult it is to join that competition at such a late stage and they should have realistic expectations. However, I believe that I stand a chance to become the next UN Secretary General, Mrs Georgieva further says.

The steering committees and the political parties which were not granted a state subsidy will use media packages to the tune of EUR 20,000 in radio stations and TV channels with nationwide coverage and in printed media with nationwide circulation, the Bulgarian Central Election Commission has ruled about the forthcoming Presidential elections and the National Referendum, the Spokesperson of the Central Election Commission Alexander Andreev told Sega daily. Mr Andreev specified that the decision of CEC was also based on a recent sociological survey, according to which most Bulgarians (63%) receive information from media which have coverage across the whole country.
