The minimum wages in Bulgaria’s healthcare system will increase between 15% and 35%. It became clear after the signature of the collective labor agreement between Bulgarian employers, labor unions and the Ministry of Healthcare. The salaries of the Bulgarian doctors, nurses, hospital attendants and laboratory assistants will see highest increase-between 29% and 35%. Thus, the minimum monthly salary of Bulgarian doctors with one medical specialty working in university or multi-profile hospitals for active treatment will amount to EUR 500. The minimum salary of a Bulgarian nurse will become EUR 383 per month. The collective labor agreement makes the Bulgarian healthcare system more predictable, Minister of Healthcare Petre Moscov commented. A public opinion survey made in the beginning of 2016 shows that 75% of the young Bulgarian doctors who graduated last year said they intended to work abroad.
