Presidential elections: Central Election Commission inconclusive results

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced inconclusive results from the presidential elections on 6 Nov. based on 66.55 percent of voting papers processed from polling stations in the country and 54.60 percent of processed papers from voting abroad. Rumen Radev, whose candidacy was raised by a steering committee and who was supported by the Bulgarian Socialist Party has collected the largest number of votes – 25.67percent. Second comes the contender of the ruling party Gerb Tsetska Tsacheva with 22.02 percent. Third is the candidate of the coalition United Patriots Krassimir Karakachanov with 15.10 percent. 5.68percent of voters have chosen the option “I support no one.” After the elections Rumen Radev commented that Bulgarians had said “no” to apathy and had voted for change. Prime Minister Boyko Borissov vowed he would resign unless Tsetska Tsachev wins the runoff. The United Patriots coalition will not urge its voters to support any of the contenders in the runoff, Krassimir Karakachanov said. The final results should be published by CEC up to 48 hours after the end of election day.
