Trains with new timetable as of today

Photo: BGNES

The new railway timetable comes into effect in Bulgaria as of today. There will be changes in the departure and arrival time of some of the trains. The biggest problem for passengers and for the State Railways administration is the insufficient number of regional trains. The reasons are: lack of rolling stock and the insufficient state subsidy for the State Railways company, BDZ.
A few days ago an action group declared it had collected more than 100 signatures in a petition protesting against the changes in the Stara Zagora - Gorna Oryahovitsa train schedule which means they will be unable to commute. The BDZ administration has stated that wherever transport routes have to be dropped, trains will be replaced by buses.
