Photo: library

Hundreds of Bulgarians were stranded in nearly 500 passenger vehicles on Trakia motorway in Burgas district on Friday night due to traffic incidents caused by icy roads and snow. Emergency teams have already evacuated people with health problems, mothers with children and pregnant women. The main road connecting the towns of Karnobat and Aytos is also closed after an incident with a TIR truck. Outgoing Premier Boyko Borissov summoned crisis headquarters and said at an extraordinary briefing on Friday night that the incident was caused, because some TIR truck drivers violated the traffic ban. Trakia motorway will be closed at least until Saturday noon.
