So far a total of 63 bird flu cases have been registered on Bulgarian territory, the competent authorities inform. Nearly 430,000 birds were infected with bird flu and most of them have been already killed, outgoing Ministerof Agriculture and Food Desislava Taneva said. Most of the bird flu locations are near the city of Plovdiv (Central South Bulgaria). The authorities have allotted EUR 500,000 to deal with bird flu, but the total amount necessary will increase to EUR 2.5-3 million. The bird flu infection spread quickly due to poor hygiene in some Bulgarian farms, Desislava Taneva also said. According to experts, egg price will see at least 10% increase due to the bird flu epidemic in that country.
