Eurobarometer: 72 percent of Bulgarians want EC monitoring of Bulgaria to continue

72 percent of Bulgarians say that the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism for Bulgaria in the spheres of justice and internal order must remain in place, a Eurobarometer survey indicates.
Practically all respondents single out corruption (97 percent), organized crime (96 percent) and the flaws in the system of justice (94 percent) as the biggest problems facing the country. Overall, Bulgarians believe that the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism is having a positive impact on the judiciary and the fight against organized crime and corruption. According to 69 percent, the EC progress reports must continue until the country has reached the level of the other European countries. A mere 16 percent of the respondents say that the Mechanism for Cooperation and Verification must be dropped.
