Nobody took the blame for the tragic death in Echemishka tunnel, Sega daily writes on its first pages on Tuesday. The Road Infrastructure Agency admitted that in 2005 the authorities knew about the corrosion of the lamp fixtures in that tunnel, but Echemishka tunnel was not dangerous back then. None of the institutions responsible for the maintenance of Hemus motorway and Echemishka tunnel said whether the family of the victim would receive compensation, Sega daily alarms. The authorities investigating the case told Trud daily that employees from the Road Infrastructure Agency and Avtomagistrali Company, which is responsible for the maintenance of the motorway, may receive indictments. The maintenance of the tunnels is a chaos, investigators further told Trud daily. According to the legislation, the competent authorities should make safety inspections of the tunnels twice a year. However, the last safety inspection was made two years ago. Tragic accident in Echemishka tunnel blocks Hemus motorway for ten days. Bulgaria’s Prosecutor’s Office has been investigating a death by negligence case, 24 Chassa writes on its first pages. The newspaper accentuates on the fact that a section of Hemus motorway will remain closed in both directions until the competent authorities complete their investigation and undertake measures aimed at guaranteeing safety to the Bulgarian drivers and passengers. The husband of the 64 year old victim told the newspaper that he was overwhelmed with grief from the preposterous accident. Director of the Road Infrastructure Agency engineer Doncho Atanasov said in an interview for Telegraph daily the tunnels in Bulgaria were not in bad condition and that Echemishka tunnel was the only one that had to go under repair and maintenance works. Engineer Atanasov will summon a commission which will have the task to make safety inspections of all tunnels in that country, the newspaper further informs.

The European Commission has certified a Bulgarian goat breed which yields three times more milk as compared to other breeds, Zemya daily writes on Tuesday and specifies that the stock-breeders were planning to launch an animal-breeding center.
