Every month Radio Bulgaria invites you to vote for selected music from this country. After collecting votes, lots are drawn to determine the three winners who receive CDs with music from the respective genre. Voting takes place on our email address at english@bnr.bg. The results from voting are announced on or around the 15th of every month.
Musicbox Bulgaria chart this month features children’s songs selected by music editor Eliana Zaharieva.
Although formally, spring arrives on 21 March, once we wake up on March 1, we already feel the freshness of spring. It is probably due to the lovely red and white tassels known as martenitsas. By an ancient tradition Bulgarians wear these amulets in March for the sake of health and happiness.
Or maybe the spring mood is felt in early March because the charming snowdrops already pop out of the snow followed by hyacinths and tulips. Trees begin to blossom beautifully and the whole world is waking for new life and hopes. So in this edition of the Musicbox Bulgaria chart we play songs that convey a colorful and joyful spring mood.
The first entry is Martenichki (Red-and-White Martenitsa Tassels), music by Andrey Drenikov, performed by the Bulgarian Nightingale children’s choir.
Musicbox Bulgaria’s second entry this month is Spring Song, music by Vladimir Dzhambazov in the rendition of the Radiochildren choir at the Bulgarian National Radio.
In our monthly music chart the third entry is A Ticket to Spring, music by Lubomir Denev, performed by the Singing Bells children’s vocal group from Veliko Tarnovo.
Congratulations:
„Once upon a time“ by Parashkev Hadzhiev has topped the chart for a favorite Bulgarian operatic aria of Radio Bulgaria listeners.
Lots were drawn and the winners of CDs with the latest production of the Bulgarian National Radio are: Fritz Andorf from Germany, David Iurescia from Argentina and Igor Kanevskiy from Russia.
