Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Boyko Mirchev has explicitly put to Ankara’s Ambassador in Sofia Suleyman Gokce the issue of violations in the conditions for holding the Bulgarian parliamentary elections in the territory of Turkey. The deputy minister has pointed out that the Turkish side has given permission for opening of electoral commissions in polling stations for the parliamentary elections on 26 March 2017 which includes a ban for political propaganda in the territory of Turkey. The statements made by Turkish Minister of Labor Mehmet Muezzinoglu while he spoke to Bulgarian expats in Istanbul on 3 and 6 March 2017 violate this requirement, and the open appeals for supporting a particular political party represent a direct interference in Bulgaria’s domestic affairs, Mirchev has said and has demanded an end to such violations.
