March for Women’s Rights to be held on March 8 downtown Sofia

On March 8 the Bulgarian Fund for Women is to launch downtown Sofia a March for Women’s Rights which is against gender inequality and discrimination in various spheres of life. Similar street processions will be held in over 30 countries worldwide. The Bulgarian Fund for Women announced that one out of four Bulgarian women is victim to domestic violence. The march is also against the limited participation of women in the decision making processes and against the different remuneration paid to men and women working in the same field. In Bulgaria the women receive 14% lower salaries and 40% lower pensions compared to men.
