The legendary Bulgarian weightlifting coach Ivan Abadjiev has passed away. Ivan Abadjiev is among the sports experts who contributed the most to the development of the Bulgarian sport. Abadjiev was born in 1932 in the town of Novi Pazar. He won silver medal at the world weightlifting championships in 1957. In 1969 Ivan Abadjiev headed the Bulgarian national weightlifting team and helped Bulgarian athletes win over 100 gold medals at summer Olympic Games, world and European weightlifting championships.
