Rise of Serbian, Macedonian and Turkish tourists to Bulgaria

Statistics in Bulgaria show that in February there was a boom in the number of tourists from Serbia, Macedonia and Turkey visiting Bulgaria.

The tourists from these countries were more than 50% of all foreigners who visited the country during the month. This happened against the backdrop of an overall increase in the number of foreign tourists to 188 thousand people, which is the biggest number reached since February 2008.

Bulgarian tourists abroad in February were around 70,000, which is also a record number for that month in the last six years. There is however a trend of Bulgarian tourists visiting EU countries and a drop in their interest in closer and more accessible destinations such as Turkey, Serbia and Macedonia.
