GERB opens negotiations with “patriots” on formation of cabinet

The first official meeting between the negotiating teams of GERB party and the nationalist coalition United Patriots – National Front for the Salvation of Bulgaria (NFSB), ATAKA and VMRO on the formation of a coalition government took place in Sofia.

The meeting was attended by GERB leader Boyko Borissov and deputy chairman Tsvetan Tsvetanov as well as the leaders of the NFSB, ATAKA and VMRO – Valery Simeonov, Volen Siderov and Krasimir Karakachanov. At this stage of the negotiations, distribution of ministerial positions are not being discussed, just programme items. In the coming days party experts will retailor the electoral programmes of the negotiating sides, so as to come up with a shared programme for government. A second meeting between the two political formations is expected by the end of the week.
