There are no conditions for revocation of Radio Bulgaria’s license, the legal opinion of the Council for Electronic Media reads. BNR Director General Alexander Velev has asked the media regulator to change the license of Radio Bulgaria so that content will be done in 3 languages only- Russian, English and Turkish, rather than in 10 languages. There will be terrestrial broadcast of the programme in Turkish and the programmes in English and Russian will be broadcast on the Internet, the plans of the BNR management read. The members of the Council for Electronic Media decided to send a letter to Alexander Velev demanding information why the number of foreign language sections cannot be higher after the reforms at Radio Bulgaria and when the agreement between the BNR and the copyright body Musicautor will be signed. In this regard Alexander Velev was invited to attend the sitting of the Council for Electronic Media on June 27. Meanwhile, the Public Council for the Bulgarian National Radio heard today the motifs of BNR Director General Velev about the restructuring of Radio Bulgaria, as well as the meaningful, the technological and the financial reasons for those plans. The Public Council for the Bulgarian National Radio has unanimously supported the decision of the BNR management to restructure Radio Bulgaria under the announced terms and criteria.
