Bulgaria and Greece agreed to expand the scope of the multimodal freight corridor between the two countries connecting the Bulgarian ports Varna and Burgas and the Greek ports Kavala and Alexandroupoli. It became clear after the meeting in Thessaloniki between Bulgaria’s Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moscovski and the Greek Minister of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks Christos Spirtzis. Greece agreed with Bulgaria’s proposal that the joint project should include a link to Ruse port. Thus, a complete multimodality between road, railway, maritime and river transport, as well as a shortcut to the countries situated along the Danube, will be achieved. Ministers Moscovski and Spirtzis both agreed that this is a project of high added value which is expected to attract big investors from the Middle East, China, Russia and other big markets.
