One fifth of energy mix to come from renewable sources by 2026

Photo: BGNES

By 2026, nearly a fifth of electricity produced in Bulgaria should come from renewable energy sources.

This is what a plan of the electrical system operator envisages. More than 1,500 megawatts of new capacities will be built by then, with more than 1100 of them being "green energy" plants.

Public discussion of this plan has already begun and the document is expected to be adopted by the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission on September 15.
