Firefighters, military men, forestry representatives, people from the Executive Forest Agency and volunteers have been attempting to extinguish the fire in Kresna Gorge for the sixth consecutive day. Some precipitation occurred in the region in the recent hours, but the wind remains strong. The Chief Directorate Fire Safety and Civil Protection announced that the dramatic situation near the village of Vlahi has been put under control and the evacuation of the population has been cancelled. A third helicopter joined the fire suppression operation, in order to prevent possible spread of fire towards Pirin Mountain and Pirin National Park.
