The 14th Legal and Public Policy Assembly of the European Broadcasting Union, hosted by the Bulgarian National Radio, has opened in Sofia.
In an address to the forum, Deputy Minister of Culture Rumen Dimitrov said that Bulgaria will be a focus of the dialogue and attainment of a reasonable compromise, upholding the goals of the digital single market, protection of copyright and related rights and contractual freedom. At the same time Rumen Dimitrov congratulated the BNR staff and the members of the EBU on making pressing issues connected with the protection of copyright within the public service media the focus of attention at this assembly.
In his opening speech, BNR Director General Alexander Velev noted that digitalization is the future of radio and that it is bringing a host of challenges with it, while at the same time opening up new opportunities for providing a better service to audiences and that all efforts will be made to make digital radio (DAB+) possible in Bulgaria.
