On 31 October the six Black Sea countries, Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine mark the International Black Sea Action Day.

On this day in 1996, the Black Sea Strategic Action Plan was signed comprising measures for curbing pollution, effective biodiversity management and implementation of environmental projects in the Black Sea region.

To perform these goals, more than 175 million euro has been invested in projects of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, under the Environment 2007 and 2013 Operational Programme, the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water reported at an international conference in Varna.
