Bulgaria’s capital Sofia is hosting the 26th Annual Conference and General Assembly Meeting of the Association of European Election Officials ACEEEO. The topic of the conference is named Conscious Voters in the Digital Age. The conference is dedicated to the challenges linked with the development of the information and communication technologies and their impact on the election process, the election campaigns and voter awareness. The election process in the democratic countries faces serious challenges related to the rapid development of the technologies, Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev said during the forum. In his view, the malicious misinformation through the so-called fake news and the cyber-attacks pose serious risks on the fair elections nowadays. Bulgaria should find effective ways to guarantee the right to vote to all Bulgarians living abroad, President Radev went on to say.
