Minister Karanikolov joins Brussles meeting of Council on Trade

Bulgarian Minister of Economy Emil Karanikolov took part in the Foreign Affairs Council /Trade/ in Brussels.

Discussions included issues pertaining to preparatory work for the 11th ministerial conference of the World Trade Organization, trade talks between the EU and Mexico and the countries from Mercosur, as well as issues related to the enforcement of EU free trade agreements.

Ahead of the meeting European Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström and Minister Karanikolov discussed cooperation during the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2018.

Karanikolov expounded the key priorities in trade related to strengthening of trust in the World Trade Organization. He pointed out that one key priority would be preserving the leading role of the European Union in talks for conclusion of free trade agreements with priority third countries and regions.
