Iran has denied to have banned the government aircraft with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on board from flying over its territory.

A permit for the Bulgarian plane to fly over has been given following an official request from the Bulgarian Embassy in Tehran, the Spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Bahram Qassemi has said.

According to Qassemi,Iranian air traffic controllers have received mistaken information about the flight from the plane’s pilot who has not transmitted correctly the code for access of the air traffic control tower. For this reason the government aircraft with the Bulgarian prime minister on board was not identified.

The spokesman voiced regrets over the misconception and remarked that “Iranian airspace is open to aircraft of friendly countries like Bulgaria.”
