Kristalina Georgieva: Bulgaria can be a bridge for its neighbours to the EU

Kristalina Georgieva, Chief Executive Officer of the World Bank stated for bTV that Bulgaria, which is now a member of the EU, can be a bridge for its neighbours to the EU.

The World Bank CEO added that she expected this country to enter the Eurozone waiting room in 2018. Asked about Schengen, Georgieva pointed out that Bulgaria is ready, all technical conditions have been met and the country’s accession to the area is down to a political decision by the member countries. Regarding Pan-European corridor 8, Kristalina Georgieva announced that the World Bank had already provided part of the funding for the project and that it will assist Bulgaria keep its road network in good repair and build new roads. 
Later Georgieva met with PM Boyko Borissov who acquainted her with the priority projects for connectivity among the countries of the Western Balkans.
