The Bulgarian Grand Mufti’s Office expresses concern with the situation in the Middle East after the decision of the US President Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem as capital of Israel. The Grand Mufti’s Office wrote in a statement that “any decision about the disputed status of the holy city must be made within the frameworks of diplomatic negotiations between the Palestinian, the Israeli people and the United Nations”. “In times of global instability and upsurge of global terrorism, this act would nourish fanaticism and violence”, the statement of the Bulgarian Grand Mufti’s Office also reads. According to the Bulgarian Grand Mufti’s Office, the world leaders must start a dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations.
