Antonio Tajani: Bulgarian Presidency is right time to think about making EU more efficient, democratic and flexible

The Bulgarian Presidency is a good time to think about how to make the EU more efficient, more democratic and more flexible. This is what President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, said at the official opening of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU.

“Unity makes the Power” is the motto of Bulgarians and motto of the Bulgarian presidency. That is why we should face the challenges and make Europe ready for the future, Antonio Tajani said and added that Europe's citizens had huge expectations and wanted more employment. In order to achieve this, we should attract more investments, especially in the sphere of digital technology and tourism, Tajani said.He thanked Bulgarian institutions and the government for their strong commitment for protecting the common border of the EU, as well as for the excellent cooperation between the Bulgarian Army and police and their European counterparts.

Antonio Tajani expressed hope that the Bulgarian Presidency will pave the way for better cooperation between the EU and the countries of the Western Balkans.
