At a ceremony on Thursday night, on the day of the 83rd birthday of the Bulgarian National Radio, for the 18th time, the annual awards were given in the name of the radio's first director, Sirak Skitnik.

The grand prize "Sirak Skitnik" for year 2017 went to the music editors of the media for their high professionalism and for protecting the radio's public prestige. The new site archives.bnr.bg, which offers access to the media archive, received the award for radio project. BNR General Director Alexander Velev pointed out that the media archive is the sound memory of Bulgaria, and all of the radio-generations since 1935 have contributed to its collection, storage and processing.

Parliament President Tsveta Karayancheva said at the ceremony that the Bulgarian National Radio was a school for young journalists, a  high standard for the profession and institution, "which we all listen to and from which we sometimes learn." The annual Sirak Skitnik Prize was established in 2001. The winners are selected by the members of the Public Council of the Bulgarian National Radio by secret ballot.
