Netherlands supports Bulgaria’s efforts to join Schengen and Eurozone

The Netherlands supports Bulgaria’s efforts to join the Schengen Area, the Premier of the Netherlands Mark Rutte said during the meeting in Sofia with Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. The Netherlands appreciates the efforts made so far, but there is still a little more work to be done by all interested parties, including in Bulgaria, Premier Rutte went on to say. Bulgaria has already fulfilled the Eurozone membership criteria, Mark Rutte said and voiced hopes that this country will soon adopt the Euro. In return, Premier Borissov told his counterpart Rutte that Bulgaria has been protecting the EU external border well. Boyko Borissov voiced expectation that the Dutch Parliament will soon be convinced that Bulgaria is a country with strong discipline which adheres the financial rules, protects the Schengen border well, respects the rule of law and can generate stability in the whole region.
