On the occasion of today’s 52nd birthday of legendary Bulgarian football player Hristo Stoichkov, UEFA has carried on its website an article about the great athlete.

The article names Stoichkov the best football player in Bulgarian history. It then revisits his successes with the Bulgarian club CSKA, FC Barcelona and the national football side of Bulgaria.

UEFA quotes late Johan Cruyff as saying "I want that boy, he is a genius.” This was followed by Hristo Stoichkov’s transfer from CSKA in Sofia to FC Barcelona.
