Serbian Safet Balicevac who rescued Bulgarian children receives Bulgarian citizenship

Bulgarian Vice President Iliana Iotova handed over a Bulgarian citizenship certificate to Serbian national Safet Balicevac. 

Balicevac was among the group of locals who rescued Bulgarian children in 2004. Back then following a road accident with the bus transporting the children, they fell into the River Lim, Serbia.

Twelve children from the Bulgarian town of Svishtov died in the disaster, and 38 passengers survived. In 2004 Safet Balicevac was aged 20.
