Culture has a key role to play in boosting the economy and creating jobs, said Tibor Navracsics, European commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport at the opening of the informal meeting of ministers of culture from the EU in Sofia.

The motto of the meeting, chaired by Bulgarian Minister of Culture Boil Banov is “Culture - an inclusive value of the EU”. Minister Banov pointed out that the principal message that unites all ministers is to work together to assert cultural policies, which are the main drivers of the European project and stressed that there are many well-written European documents, which sound convincing and pretty, but that without streamlined efforts beautiful phrases are stillborn.
