Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva has met with Great Britain’s Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union David Davis, the Foreign Ministry press centre has announced.
“The Brexit negotiations entered their crucial second phase during Bulgaria’s Presidency of the Council of the EU. Bulgaria is playing its role in this process responsibly, and I believe that we have been successful in creating a balanced and untroubled atmosphere in which to continue the negotiations,” Minister Zaharieva said during the meeting.
David Davis on his part stated he was impressed by the Bulgarian Presidency, which was very good, honest and understanding.
“Some of the issues we have to reach consensus on in the Brexit negotiations are not easy, but I am optimistic that we shall succeed in finding the best and most balanced solution that would be in the interest of both citizens and businesses,” Ekaterina Zaharieva said.
