Following statements that the state authorities failed to collect nearly EUR 8 billion from value added tax in the past 18 years the National Assembly Monitoring Committee on the Revenue Agencies and Combating Parallel Economy and Smuggling will organize hearing of representatives of the Bulgarian Ministry of Finance and the National Revenue Agency. Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the National Revenue Agency Galya Dimitrova announced that the uncollectible VAT for the period 2000-2017 amounts to EUR 2.7 billion. In her view, most of this money is owed by people who do not possess any property. That is why the money cannot be collected. Galya Dimitrova denied the statements that the state authorities failed to collect EUR 8 billion for that period.
