Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov has instructed the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to start consultations with the government of the USA about the expulsion warrant issued by the United States against the Bulgarian national Zhelyaz Andreev who was charged with exporting aircraft parts to Syria in violation of a U.S embargo.

The Ambassador of the United States to Bulgaria has been invited for talks at the country’s Foreign Ministry. The Bulgarian Ambassador to the USA has demanded an urgent meeting with the Director for South Central European Affairs at the U.S. Department of State Matthew Palmer. Tonight civil protests are expected to be held in Sofia and Dobrich, as well as outside the Bulgarian Embassy in London with the slogan: “Let us stop the extradition of Zhelyaz Andreev!”

In the meantime, the United States has requested the extradition of four other Bulgarians, colleagues of Zhelyaz Andreev, Bulgarian Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov has said.
