Chinese CITIC Construction shows interest in construction of Shipka tunnel, Rousse–Veliko Tarnovo motorway

The Chinese CITIC Construction has shown investment interest in the construction of a tunnel under Shipka peak and of the Rousse – Veliko Tarnovo motorway, the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works has said.

The news has come following the talks of the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Nikolay Nankov with officials from the Chinese company.

I will be happy if we manage to make progress in our joint efforts for the implementation of infrastructure projects in the format of public-private partnership,” the minister has said during the talks and has added that Bulgaria-China business relations will benefit from the forthcoming 16+1 forum in Sofia, an initiative aimed to encourage cooperation of China with the sixteen countries from Central and Eastern Europe. The forum will take place in Sofia.
