The Stara Zagora Municipal Council decided to rename 838 places which currently bear Turkish or Arabic names. The decision was adopted with 39 votes in favor, 2 votes against. Four municipal councilors abstained, Dnevnik informs.  Some of the old names were translated literally and others will be renamed by analogy. In a declaration Bulgaria’s Grand Mufti's Office expressed serious concerns and announced that “it is a kind of a Revival Process (Process of Rebirth) which affects this time the names of the sites and the geographical areas”.
