“There is no way the EU can attain its strategic goal – standing united and strong on the world arena – if even one of the countries members is a weak link. That is why we must be guided by the founding values of the Union – unity and solidarity which find their practical expression in the cohesion policy of the EU,” said President Rumen Radev at a meeting with Karl-Heinz Lambertz, President of the European Committee of the Regions.

The two agreed that the policy of cohesion must be developed and advanced, because the idea of unity is at the core of the EU. Rumen Radev emphasized that even though the focus in the new multiannual financial framework of the EU falls on security, stability and migration, more efforts should be invested on promoting the policy of cohesion.
