Moldova’s National Commission for Heraldry approved the coat of arms and the flag of Taraclia- a Moldovan town populated predominantly by ethnic Bulgarians. Artist Peter Veliksar from Taraklia is the author of the town’s coat of arms. Historian Dr. Ivan Duminica is a consultant in the project connected with the creation of the town’s symbols.  A lion, a shield and a crown presented in line with the Bulgarian heraldic tradition are depicted on Taraclia’s coat of arms. Two human figures facing the shield are also on this town’s coat of arms. The human figures represent the ethnic Bulgarians living in Taraclia. The motto The Bulgarian Spirit is Invincible is written onto a white band placed under the shield.
