Photo: ardanews.info

Archaeologists started to research a royal residence near the Bulgaria-Greece border. It is located near the village of Benkovski and is over 2,000 years old. Fieldworks show that there is a palace, a sanctuary and a royal necropolis in this area. A 500 meter-long fortress wall made of cut stones was also discovered. A necropolis with at least five royal funerals was found behind it. The Bulgarian archaeologists also discovered several large buildings and a round altar which made them believe that they have come across a royal residence.
