“The enormous migratory pressure on Bulgaria at the moment is coming from the Greek border”, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov told journalists in Brussels, where he is taking part in the regular European Council meeting.
“There can be no discussion of a secondary relocation of migrants before we have solved the question of external borders,” the Bulgarian Prime Minister said. If we want to solve the problem of migration it is important for each country to have the political will to invest in its border security, for the EU to sign the respective agreements with third countries, in which the migration processes originate, and for the necessary financial assistance to be provided to countries to secure the borders of the EU. “It is on the basis of these three things that we will be able to discuss secondary relocation, solidarity, humanity,” Boyko Borissov said.
PM Borrisov said further that he had insisted that the protocol of the upcoming Katowice Climate Change Conference on 2 December include the stipulation that the financial commitments of the EU countries shall not be increased because of developing countries like China and the United Arab Emirates.
