The average life expectancy in Bulgaria has continued to increase, the report of the Bulgarian cabinet on the fulfillment of the National Demographic Development Strategy reads. Between 2015 and 2017 the average life expectancy in Bulgaria was 74.8 years, or 0.1 years higher as compared to the previous period 2014-2016. Average life expectancy for males was 71.3 years. The average life expectancy for females was 7 years higher-78.4 years. The ageing of the population is the most significant trend ascertained by the report. At the end of 2017 the people aged 65 or above were 21.0% of the whole Bulgarian population.
