Parliament adopts budget 2019 at first reading

The Bulgarian Parliament adopted at first reading the budget for 2019. The budget passed at first reading with the votes of GERB and United Patriots, of one MP from "Volya" and one independent MP. The BSP and the DPS voted against. The priorities of Budget 2019 are social policy, education, defense and income policy. The planned deficit is 0.5% of GDP. GDP growth is projected to reach 3.7% in 2019 due to stronger public investment and public consumption and keep level of 3.5% in the 2020-2021 period. Unemployment is expected to fall to 4.8% next year. Government debt is expected to decrease from BGN 22.2 billion in 2019 to a level of BGN 22.0 billion by the end of 2021.
