Sergei Stanishev reelected as President of Party of European Socialists

Sergei Stanishev was reelected for the third time as President of the Party of European Socialists (PES). 270 delegates (83.9%) supported the former Chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party at the congress of PES in Lisbon. 23 delegates voted against and 29 abstained. Europe urgently needs a progressive renewal. This congress proves that this renewal is very much underway. Our party is more united and motivated than ever before, and we have a strong policy platform and Common Candidate as we go into the European Elections, Sergei Stanishev said in his speech. In his words, the policies and mechanisms related to the "Social Europe” will be the main elements of the election platform of the Party of European Socialists. Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov greeted Stanishev for his reelection as President of PES.
