Parents of children with disabilities have received the Human of the Year Award 2018 of the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee. The awards are traditionally given on the International Day of Human Rights, marked today across the world. The chairman of the committee, Krassimir Kanev, described the actions of the mothers in 2018 as "the most massive human rights action in the past years".

A prize for overall contribution was given posthumously to climber Boyan Petrov, who remained forever close to the stars in the ice of Shisha Pangma.
